Cost of Studying in Singapore
The education of education in Singapore is quite low as compared to other study abroad destinations like UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc. The cost of study in Singapore varies according to the institute, course and duration of the course. You might end up paying S$5000 to S$ 20000 approximately for 6 months to 2 years Diploma course, S$ 24000 to S$55000 approximately for 2 to 4 years Bachelor Degree course and S$ 18,500 to S$ 30000 approximately for 1 to 1.5 years Master Degree Course. If you are studying 5 years Medical and Dental courses in Singapore, you might end up paying subsidized tuition fee with an obligation to work for 3 years in Singapore under The Tuition Grant Bond.

Public Housing in Singapore refers to government-subsidised flats (HDB flats) developed by the Housing and Development Board (HDB).

Below are the documents you have to submit for completion of formalities:
- Your valid passport. You have to submit a copy of particular pages of passport
- You must carry the departure/arrival card granted on entry into Singapore. If you have been residing in Singapore on other long term passes, you have to bring along that pass as well;
- One recent color passport-sized photograph (taken on white background);
- The printout of eForm 16 submitted through SOLAR (duly signed by the applicant);
- If your documents are in native language, you must get an official English translation of the documents.
- A copy of the in-principle approval letter; and A medical report in the prescribed format (available on ICA’s website).
- When you submit the application, make sure the laboratory reports are not more than three months from the issue date. In case you fail to fulfill the medical requirement, you will not be granted the Student Pass.

Working during study in Singapore
If you are a full-time international student pursuing a degree at a Singaporean university, you are permitted to work part-time for not more than 16 hours a week during the school year and full time during vacation. You don’t need to apply for additional permission from the Ministry of Manpower if your work hours are within the permitted limit. However, you are eligible to these work rights only if you are enrolled in any of the institutions approved by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM). The student’s pass you obtain before you enter Singapore for studies holds good until you finish your course there.
Post - study work rights in Singapore
Most of the institutions in Singapore offer internships as part of their curriculum. Many of them have tie-ups with reputed corporate to train their students and provide them valuable hands-on experience. At the end of your course, you are likely to get absorbed by these companies. To work full time after graduation, you need to apply for either an employment pass (E Pass), work permit or a Service Pass (S Pass) based on various factors such as your level of skills, education qualifications and work experience.
Apart from the above, there is also the Employment Pass Eligibility Certificate (EPEC) which allows you to stay in Singapore for up to one year to facilitate your job search. Successful EPEC applicants are required to apply for a one-year Visit Pass from the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA) to allow them to stay in Singapore. Once you find a job, you need to acquire an Employment Pass to start working. To be eligible for an EPEC, you need to possess selected university qualifications or a skilled migrant visa.
Visa Information
After receiving the offer letter from the desired institute for a particular course, students need to apply for student pass to enter Singapore. Institutes in Singapore will file the Singapore student pass for Indian application behalf of students to Singapore immigration and checkpoint authority (ICA).
Applications are submitted through the Student’s Pass On-Line Application & Registration (SOLAR) system.
New applications for a Student’s Pass must be submitted at least one month and not more than two months before the commencement of the course.
Cost of Visa
Processing Fee
A processing fee of $30 (Rs 1,500) is required for every application submitted to ICA. The fee is non-refundable. For submission, via SOLAR+ you’ll be required to make payment by credit/debit card or internet banking.
Issuance Fee
A $60 (Rs 3,000) issuance fee is charged on every student's pass issued and a further $30 multiple-entry visa fee. The fee is payable when the successful applicant completes the formality to collect the Student's Pass.
Documents
Following documents will be required for application purposes:- Valid passport – Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your period of stay in Singapore.
- Completed Student Visa Application Forms – ICA form 16 & Form V36
- Application fee payment receipt, as you are required to pay S$30, which translates roughly to Rs 1500. An issuance fee of S$60 (Rs 3000) has to be paid once the Student's Pass is approved and issued.
- The offer of place – You needs to have an offer of a place from a Singapore institute/university. The forms are usually issued after the tuition fees have been received.
- Two passport sized photographs (if applicable)
- Bank Statements - Funds to be shown = Tuition fee + 8400 S$
- Fixed Deposit Receipts (if necessary)
- Bank loan sanction letter (if necessary)
Note:Additional documentation may be required. During the personal interview, additional documents may be requested by the interviewer. These may be documents to prove evidence of academic or financial status –
- Transcripts, diplomas, degrees, or certificates from schools you attended
- Test scores that your college required, such as the TOEFL, GRE, or GMAT
- How you will pay all educational, living and travel costs
How to apply
New applications for a Student’s Pass must be submitted at least one month before the commencement of the course. Applications must be submitted through the Student’s Pass On-Line Application & Registration (SOLAR) system.
1. Registration of Application by an Institute of Higher Learning (IHL)
Before the foreign student submits an application for Student’s Pass-through SOLAR, the college must first register the student through SOLAR with the following information:
- Name, date of birth, gender and nationality of the student
- Course details, course commencement, and course end dates
- SOLAR application reference number
2. Submission of eForm 16 by Student
Once the college has successfully registered the student, the student may login to SOLAR to submit eForm 16. Applicants must have the following information before logging into SOLAR:
- A registration acknowledgment notice with the login information provided by the college
- Passport details (passport number, date of expiry, etc.)
- Singapore’s address and contact details (if not available, provide the school’s registered address)
- Applicant’s email address.
- One recent passport-sized color photograph
Upon submission of the eForm 16 through SOLAR, students are required to print a copy of the eForm for submission to the Student’s Pass Unit, ICA, to complete formalities for the issuance of a Student’s Pass.
Dependents
The spouse and children of full-time graduate research students can get sponsorship from the university for a Social Visit Pass to stay in Singapore. The graduate students should get their spouse and children to apply for an entry visa at Singapore's embassy. When the spouse and children arrive in Singapore, they will be given a 4-week Social Visit Pass at the airport.
Additional Information
You can work part-time for up to 16 hours per week. Work permits are not required for those who want to work during holidays, as they can work full-time without any visa restrictions. After the degree program is over, international students can submit an application for a one-year Visit Pass to ICA (Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore), if they want to look for employment opportunities in Singapore. This can be done online through e-VP.
